Surprise, surprise, Kanye West has once again gone off on another rant about Taylor Swift. Admittedly, I am not a huge fan of Kanye, and would quite frankly walk barefoot on broken glass whilst listening to his latest album just to smell Taylor Swift’s hair – but I will try and remain as unbiased as possible.
To recap, back in 2009, Taylor Swift won the MTV Video Music Award for Best Female Video. However, whilst making her acceptance speech in what should have been a huge moment for the young and upcoming songstress, Kanye decided to rush the stage, take the microphone out of her hands and tell the world Beyonce should have won instead. Bad form Kanye, bad form indeed.
It was all so very awkward. Swift was left so embarrassed by West’s interruption that she left the stage without saying another word, despite Kanye “letting her finish”. Of course, Beyonce would go on to win the overall Video Of The Year award, making Kanye look like an utter jackass.
Fast forward to February 2016, and Kanye released his latest album, Life Of Pablo, which features a track called Famous. During the song, Kanye raps about his feelings on his infamous run-in with Tay Tay back at the 2009 VMAs, stating, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex. I made that bitch famous” – A lyric which Kanye says Swift personally approved. However, this turned out to be a big lie.
Not being able to let the dust settle, West decided to address his on-again off-again feud with Taylor Swift over the weekend. At his first concert since the release of LOP, West has just finished performing Famous, when he decided to defend his notorious outburst at the 2009 VMAs.
“That night when I went onstage was the beginning of the end of my life. Lady Gaga cancelled the tour the next day. You know what night I’m talking about — when I just said what everybody else was thinking. So if I get in trouble for saying the truth, what’s being said the rest of the time?”
