If I was looking to become a world-renowned strongman, there is nobody better to admire than Hafthor Bjornsson, who plays “the Mountain” in Game Of Thrones. His character’s name gives it away, but just in case you haven’t seen the show, Bjornsson is absolutely huge. A two-time Europe’s Strongest Man winner, the Icelandic muscle man is here to tell you how to emulate his impressive physique.
In an interview with the New York Times, the former basketballer-turned-strongman and TV star laid down the secrets to making yourself into the sort of specimen that could swat UFC champ Connor McGregor like a fly. Clocking in at 180kg, it’s clear that a large appetite plays its part.
It’s not all fats and sugars though, oh no – the Mountain eats a whole lot of healthy food to help produce that amazing frame. Chowing down on eight meals a day, a standard breakfast would consist of eight eggs (that’s 560 calories alone) with oatmeal and fruit. His other seven meals consist mainly of meats, grains, vegetables and foods containing calorie-packed fats like avocado and organic peanut butter.
