If 65-year-old Carol Howarth didn’t already have a similar fear of bees, I’m almost certain she has one now – after a swarm of 20,000 buzzing menaces surrounded the boot of her car. Carol drove for two miles before she discovered the unwanted hitchhikers, who attached themselves to her car after their queen appeared to have gotten herself trapped in the boot.
Pembrokeshire Coast National Park ranger Tom Moses spotted the incredibly loyal swarm as Carol’s car was parked outside the Three Crowns pub in Haverfordwest. You can read his vivid description of the bizarre incident over on the next page.
