Nearly four years ago, Florida resident George Zimmerman shot and killed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, who was unarmed at the time. Despite huge protest from different groups, Zimmerman was acquitted of murder after claiming that he shot the teenager in self-defence – a claim that has always been disputed.
As you’d expect, Zimmerman has always fiercely defended his actions, but now he has taken it one step further. It seems that Zimmerman is auctioning off the pistol he used to shoot Martin, putting it up on a single-day auction on GunBroker.com. The Kel-Tec PF-9 handgun has been listed with a starting bid set at $5,000 and an undisclosed “reserve price” the winning bidder must at least match.
As well as being hugely disrespectful to the family of Trayvon Martin, it seems Zimmerman has upset lots of people with this outrageous statement. Flick over to the next page to see exactly what the man himself said after news broke of his intention to sell the weapon.
