Legendary three-time world heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali was admitted to hospital on Thursday after suffering from a respiratory illness, which was complicated by Parkinson’s. The 74-year old sadly died on Friday night after a long battle with the neurodegenerative disease.
Ali’s spokesman issued a statement shortly after his death: “After a 32-year battle with Parkinson’s disease, Muhammad Ali has passed away at the age of 74. The three-time World Heavyweight Champion boxer died this evening. The Ali family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers, and support and asks for privacy at this time.”
Photos from Ali’s last ever photoshoot before his death have just surfaced, and they reveal in great detail exactly how much the years of Parkinson’s affected the heavyweight champion’s face. British photographer Zenon Texeira visited the star’s home with his family’s blessing in March of this year. Head over to the next page to see the touching photoshoot in full.
