I’m not quite sure I can imagine it, but back in 1992, texting contained no emojis, no picture messages and no group chats. All the poor 90’s kids had were plain old letters and numbers to communicate with each other, and had to pay ten cents a pop for the privilege. No wonder speaking on the phone was the preferred method of communication until well into the noughties.
Despite the lack of smileys available, I think we’re all guilty of lusting after life before social media, emojis and Kylie Jenner ruled our lives. While on one of your regular nostalgia trips, have you ever stopped to consider what the first ever text message might have been?
