In a dark day for anyone who appreciates music, it has been reported that Chicago rap artist Cdai (real name Courtney Early) has been sentenced to 38 years in prison on a charge of first degree murder. Along with his accomplice, fellow Chicago rapper RondaNumbaNine (real name Clint Massey), Cdai shot dead a 17-year-old cab driver in February 2014.

The victim, Javan Boyd, was approached by the two gunmen while sitting in his car waiting for a passenger. Prosecutors allege that the two men asked Boyd if he lived in the neighbourhood before firing multiple shots at the car. It was revealed that the rappers were retaliating to an earlier shooting in the Wentworth Gardens neighbourhood.
