There is always excitement in the air when the circus comes to town. The setting looks great with tents, bright colours, animals and people who perform with one objective in mind: to entertain. But what happens when one of the acts go horribly wrong, causing chaos? A 37-year-old dad called Ben Garnham experienced just that and was left hospitalised after a 200-pound clown summersaulted and landed on top of him.
Ben, from Wales, UK, says he was asked to participate in the act because he was clapping and enjoying the show. He was told to push against the clown’s legs, supposedly causing the clown to summersault over him. The act ended with Ben on the floor, unconscious.
Ben said: “I thought he was going to pretend to do something and squirt me with water to get a laugh. But I don’t remember anything after that – I was out cold. I came around at the back of the tent after being knocked out for three or four minutes.”
