The Met Ball has been and gone for another year and 2016’s edition did not disappoint. The annual fundraising gala for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Benefit sees dozens of famous faces go to New York City, and is always a fantasia of fabulous attire – which is expected as it marks the grand opening of the year’s fashion exhibit.
The theme on this occasion was “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology.” The high fashion design companies were all out on display as the A-list guests strutted down the red carpet in head-to-toe glamour.
Many of the stars at the event hit the jackpot on the night, with Kendall Jenner in an elegant Atelier Versace’s gown and Zayn Metallic’s robotic automation arm leading the way. However, as expected, there were of course a handful of exceptions. Madonna’s ensemble left little to the imagination, while Beyoncé’s latex “condom couture” Givenchy number wasn’t to everybody’s taste.
Arguably, the male guests outshone the fairer sex. This being said, Kanye West still managed to turn up looking like he’d been mugged on the journey over and needed to swing by the 24 hr emergency room. Take a trip over to the next page to see what I mean…
