Beer breweries around the country are all cheering and celebrating today. Why you ask? Well it just so happens that science has given beer brands the world over a chance to make even more money. Let me explain, a new study has said that drinking beer can help you lose weight. In my experience drinking beer has led to me gaining weight, but I’m assured that this is not the case.
People will be asking about how beer is brewed, but in reality it has nothing to do with that. What researchers at Oregon State University are concerned with is xanthohumol. A flavonoid found in hops and beer, this magic chemical managed to help mice lose weight.
So could this happen with humans? Very possibly. The scientists split 48 male mice into two groups and fed them all high-fat diets. One group were given 30-60 milligrams of xanthohumol per kilogram of bodyweight each day for 12 weeks, while the other wasn’t. It was found that the group the higher dosage of xanthuhumol cut their bad cholestoral levels by 80 per cent, and they gained 22 per cent less weight than the other group.
You wouldn’t find that sort of information in most craft beer reviews… Flick onto the next page to exactly how these findings can help all of us.
