You don’t need me to tell you that drugs are bad for you. That being said, on a daily basis we’ve become accustomed to doing a lot of things which are bad for us. We smoke, despite being fully aware of the longterm effects. We drink and we eat things we shouldn’t, which proves that people rarely think twice about the consequences of their actions. With drugs however, the consequences are a little more extreme. Reading details of the effects of drug abuse is pretty shocking. However, seeing it first hand is even more astounding. The photos below demonstrate the visual effects of meth, cocaine, heroin or oxycodone on users. These pictures (which were police mug shots) were taken one or more years apart to demonstrate the physical effects of taking drugs. The photos were then compiled by a rehabilitation group called Rehabs to demonstrate what can happen to those who use drugs.
What makes these photos more distressing is that drug use is not a rare phenomenon. According to the National Institute Of Drug Abuse, 24.6 million Americans use illicit drugs.
