With a mass shooting happening nearly every other month in America’s schools, it’s understandable that security within the school system has had to tighten up a hell of a lot. But for one 13-year-old boy from Oregon, his school’s desire for gun safety went a step too far, after he was told he wasn’t allowed to wear his favourite shirt.
Student Alan Holmes was told he had to change the shirt he was wearing in support for the US military or else face suspension. Holmes was wearing the military-themed shirt in order to show support for his brother, who has served as a marine in Afghanistan.
Alan’s shirt said: “Standing for those who stood for us,” and featured the famous battlefield cross, which depicts a gun standing in a pair of boots with a helmet resting on the top.
